We pulled Goose from the New York ACC with the hope that after the over-sized mass in his throat was taken out by our vets that he’d go to a forever home.
That plan came to a complete halt when we were informed that the mass was cancerous, a stage 3 mast cell tumor that had spread to his lymph system.
His previous owners had allowed the mass to grow to the size of a baseball, resulting in a premature death sentence! We pulled Goose because we knew he was friendly;
we knew he was sociable with others dogs; and we knew he needed ‘out’ as he would have been put down in a few hours for lack of space! What we didn’t
know was that this young energetic dog, full of love and life, was to be given 6 to 8 months to live.
He is currently in hospice foster care. We are going to give him the best 6-8 (hopefully more) months to live! This is one time when we really hope our vets are wrong !
